& CHISLEHURST PROPERTY GUIDE: |
With its green space, commons and leafy
roads, Chislehurst, situated north of the bustling town centre
of Bromley and only 12 miles from the centre of London, remains
a picturesque, rural Kent village despite being engulfed by
suburban London's sprawl. The village high street still maintains
a rural, country feel to it and is split in two by Chislehurst
common. To the south of the common the shops have a real boutique
feel to them whilst the more traditional shops, banks, restaurants
and pubs lie to the north. Each parade has a real buzz to it,
giving a grander feel overall than the surrounding towns.
Property in Chislehurst comprises of grand Victorian houses,
a majority of which have escaped conversion into apartments;
large detached houses built from the 1930's onwards set in substantial
grounds along leafy, wide, tree lined roads; and a strange number
of 1960's built apartment blocks which reside uneasily against
the grandeur of their surroundings. Chislehurst remains punctuated
by woodland and green open spaces, all of which add to the demand
for housing in this area.
Chislehurst's short distance to London by car ensures its appeal
to commuters and city workers whilst the train station, which
lies a short drive west of the high street, provides a regular
service to London Bridge.
WHO LIVES HERE? City workers and commuters, professional
couples and wealthier families. |
