Waddon, situated to the west of Croydon,
lies 11 miles from the centre of London and 9 miles from the
M25. The area remains a focal point for the borough's light
industry and large commercial retail parks, a majority of which
are located off the Purley Way. Here, major retail names such
as Dixons, Ikea, PC World and Habitat can be found, alongside
leisure and entertainment complexes such as Warner Cinemas and
TGI Fridays. The busy Mitcham Road, a much used bypass to Croydon's
town centre, frames the suburb to the east.
Waddon train station, located near to Fiveways Corner, a major
road junction, provides services into London Bridge and London
Victoria. Housing off and around the Purley Way is a mixture
of mid-war terraces and semi-detached. Wandle Park and Waddon
Ponds provide some much needed green relief in an area where
residential and commercial properties sit side-by-side each
other.
