For too long considered the poor relation
to Merton, the arrival of the new Tramlink, serving both nearby
Croydon and Wimbledon looks certain to provide a welcome boost.
Mid war semis, terraces and ex-council properties predominate.
Commonside East and the streets around the old cricket green,
now a conservation area, remain highly sought after. North Mitcham
boasts larger 1930's houses and is popular for its good transport
facilities; Mitcham Park and Baron Grove also offer larger mid-war
properties, and the Fair Green area is notable for its concentration
of attractive period buildings. Among the newer stock of properties,
the Lavender Park development towards Collier's Wood has a mix
of houses and flats, and the more recent Locks Lane development,
